Mera Peak, the tallest trekking peak in Nepal, is the world's most popular climbing destination for mountaineering experience. It is located in the northernmost corner of Nepal's Solukhumbu region, in the Mahalangur section of the highest Himalayas, at an altitude of 6476 meters. It is comprised of three peaks, i.e., Mera North, 6,476 meters; Mera Central, 6,461 meters; and Mera South, 6,065 meters.
With an altitude of 6,476 meters, it provides beginners with a good training space for higher peaks like Everest. They can also learn about using ice axes, crampons, and other mountaineering equipment. This is why it is considered the best mountain to start a climbing journey. From the summit of Mera Peak, trekkers can enjoy close-up views of four eight-thousanders: Mt Everest (8,848m), Mt Makalu (8,643m), Mt Cho Oyu (8,201m), and Mt Lhotse (8,586m).
The journey of Mera Peak passes through the popular Khumbu region. This area has distinctive Sherpa communities, traditional gompas, monasteries, greenery forests, and more. Therefore, the trekkers not only pass through the Nepalese natural beauty but also through quaint villages, which will give an insight into the rich culture of the locals.
